FRC Team 8177: Vector was founded with the intent to fuel passion for STEM at Tomball Memorial High School. Through the team, Vector 8177 can reshape STEM culture for future generations by engaging high school students with younger students to create the next generation of leaders in science and technology. Although founded in 2019, the team at Vector 8177 remains committed to fulfilling their goal of creating an environment where students from all walks of life can become the next leaders in science and technology. Every year, we have continued to find more success, whether it is through advancing to the world championship or impacting our local community with a multitude of outreach events.

The FIRST Robotics Competition is a series of competitions that challenges thousands of high school teams, tasking each one of them to design and build a robot capable of completing difficult tasks. These competitions inspire students to become leaders in science and technology through the help of mentors who guide us in not only the science, engineering, and technology that is required to build a robot but also life skills such as communication, teamwork, and leadership. As FIRST says, “Under strict rules, limited time and resources, teams of students are challenged to raise funds, design a team ‘brand,’ hone teamwork skills, and build and program industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game against like-minded competitors.”
